I live and work in South Norwalk, CT, close by the 4-track former New Haven Railroad mainline from New York to Boston. This line hosts frequent Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains including both Acela and Northeast Regional services. This portion of the corridor is dispatched by Metro-North Commuter Railroad and so sees many multiple-unit consists as well as less frequent diesel hauled branch line trains to Danbury and Waterbury. Both CSX and Providence and Worcester have trackage rights in this area but the dense passenger traffic on the line relegates most freight traffic to the overnight hours.
Trains have been close by nearly all my life. I was born and grew up near Philadelphia. Both the former Pennsylvania Railroad mainline from Philadelphia to Washington and the former Baltimore & Ohio mainline passed through my home town of Ridley Park, PA, and one did not have to travel far to catch action on the former Reading lines in and around the Quaker City.
Business takes me to many places around the country and the world, so as I upload more photos to my site don't be surprised to see shots from locales both near and far.
All the best!
Paul
